Schwartz oversaw the growing portfolio and
gained a reputation for finding excellent
vintners from California, as well as Germany,
Spain and Italy. In 1990, Mr. Schwartz joined Winebow, Inc. as regional manager of the Italian portfolio for New England where he was charged with working with distributors and their staffs for appreciation and sales. His style and stature brought the awareness of Italian wines to a new level in the New England market.
Mr. Schwartz is a member of the Society of Wine Educators, has been a featured educator at the Boston Wine Expos, the Nantucket Wine Festival, worked with the Italian Trade Commission for trade development in Boston, was awarded the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence.
Mr. Schwartz serves as a guest expert to the media, is a featured speaker at many specialized dinners with producers and has also served as featured speaker at the Boston Globe Wine Luncheon with Anthony Spinnazola.
A pure Bostonian with no accent, Schwartz is a native of Chelsea by the Sea. He is a graduate of University of New Hampshire, Durham, NH. His current ancillary passion is grappa and its family, and he imports his own line of grappas and a liqueur from Sicily. His interests span the gamut of hiking, jazz, cooking, cheese mongering, photography, writing, biking and badminton. He resides currently in the village of Sheldonville, Massachusetts.
